Academic careers and Research financing (1,5 course credits)

This course covers the structure and function of academic institutions, financing of research activities including resource allocation, projects, conferences, research networks and collaboration projects, and different academic career paths. A major emphasis will be placed on the different strategic decisions made in conjunction with the transitions from doctoral to postdoctoral to assistant professorship for attaining early autonomy in research. The target group is doctoral students and post-doc researchers.

The course is organized jointly by KI Career Service and the Research School of the Linné Center DBRM (Developmental Biology for Regenerative Medicine). The course co-directors are Kerstin Beckenius and Anethe Mansén (KICS). The course faculty consists of active scientists from DBRM, such as Professor Urban Lendahl (Director of DBRM), and lecturers from the KI career service network. The course is part time, and the course language is English.
