The department strives to offer the very best in medical and biomedical education with focus on intensive knowledge. The teachers and teaching assistants at the department are all actively involved in research. Participation in undergraduate education is seen as an important part of the professional development of all personnel. The department actively encourages projects in pedagogic development, and supports teachers and teacher teams participating in such. (Pedagogic profile of CMB since 2002).

Education at Bachelor level

• Study Programme in Medicine

CMB is responsible for teaching the course module "Development - from egg to embryo" (6 ECTS credit points) in the first semester of the Medicine Programme. The course module focuses on the central cellular functions and mechanisms that together create and maintain the human body.

• Study Programme in Biomedicine

In the Biomedicine Programme, CMB is responsible for the second semester Cell Biology module (6 ECTS credits points). The course covers both prokaryotic and eukaryotic aspects of cell biology from a research oriented point of view.

• Biomedical Technology at KTH

This course is organized by MTC at Karolinska Institutet since 2010.

Education at Master level

• CMB is the home of DBRM, a Linneaus Center of Excellence in Developmental Biology for Regenerative Medicine. The center offers Master level education, both as freestanding courses and as part of the Master's programme in Biomedicine.
