Integrating project

The course includes an integrating project that the students develop through the course. During the first course module, the groups will build models in an exhitibion covering important illnesses and diseases and their cell and molecular biological mechanisms.

Finally, in the end of the course in May, the groups will give oral presentations with powerpoints on their projects.

Background to the excercise

"Cellslöjd" or "Cell crafts" as a pedagogic tool with exhibitions created by students was developed originally at Uppsala University during the 1990s as "Protein crafts", or "proteinslöjd" for a course in Protein engineering. The project at Uppsala University was supervised by the artists FA+, Ingrid Falk and Gustavo Aguerro. FA+ are internationally known for their Strindberg citations built into the Drottning street pavement in Stockholm, and similar projects in other countries.
