Correlative Microscopy in Cell Biology
November 17-21 2008

The course is aimed to introduce KI and DBRM students to new technologies merging light and electron microscopy in cell biology. Leading specialists and companies in the field will show recent developments and equipment, which will allow students to use these new approaches in their research projects.

Lectures given by Stefan Hell (Max-Plank Institute, Göttingen, Germany), Arie Verkleij (University of Utrecht, Holland), Carolyn Larabell (National Center for X-ray Tomography, University of California San Francisco, USA), and Juergen Plitzko ( Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, Martinsried, Germany) will have public access.

The course consists of cathedral lectures, group discussions, student presentations and laboratory work with microscopic methods. The course will end with a written exam.

The course is organized by the research school of DBRM (Developmental Biology For Regenerative Medicine, www.dbrm.se). The center and the research school are funded by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet, www.vr.se).
